Aussie nod for Ranbaxy's anti-psychotic drug

Ranbaxy Laboratories has received the Australian drug regulator’s nod to sell its generic version of drugmaker Janssen-Cilag's anti-schizophrenia (anti-psychotic) drug Risperdal.

NEW DELHI: Ranbaxy Laboratories has received the Australian drug regulator���s nod to sell its generic version of drugmaker Janssen-Cilag���s anti-schizophrenia (anti-psychotic) drug Risperdal. Australia-based Janssen-Cilag specialises in psychiatry, neurology, gastrointestinal and fungal diseases.

"The company has received an approval from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), Department of Health & Ageing of the Australian government, for the registration of Ozidal Risperidone 0.5, 1, 2, 3 and 4 mg tablets in Australia. This approval was based on the assessment by TGA that the Ranbaxy formulation of Risperidone is bioequivalent to, and having the same therapeutic effect as Risperdal,��� a Ranbaxy said on Wednesday. With the approval of Ozidal, Ranbaxy now has 27 molecules approved for marketing in Australia.
