Aurobindo gets USFDA nod for chicken pox tablets

Aurobindo Pharma said on Tuesday that it has received the nod from the US health regulator to manufacture and market its Valacyclovir Hydrochloride tablets, used for the treatment of chicken pox.

MUMBAI: Aurobindo Pharma said on Tuesday that it has received the nod from the US health regulator to manufacture and market its Valacyclovir Hydrochloride tablets, used for the treatment of chicken pox.

The company has received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval to market Valacyclovir Hydrochloride tablets, used to treat cold sores, genital herpes and chicken pox, Aurobindo Pharma said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The tablets will be available in strengths of 500 mg (base) and 1 g (base), the filing added.

Aurobindo now has a total of 117 abbreviated new drug approvals (ANDA) from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), it said.
