Aurobindo gets US FDA nod for hypertension drug

Drug firm Aurobindo Pharma on Friday said it has received the final approval of US health regulator, FDA for Fosinopril Sodium and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets used in the treatment of hypertension.

MUMBAI: Drug firm Aurobindo Pharma on Friday said it has received the final approval of US health regulator, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Fosinopril Sodium and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets used in the treatment of hypertension.

The company has got the approval for the drug in 10/12.5 mg and 20/12.5 mg strengths, Aurobindo Pharma said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

Fosinopril Sodium and Hydrochlorothiazide tablets are used in treating the problem of hypertension particularly for persons having cardiovascular problems. The company would launch the product shortly in the US market, it added.

The company now has a total 96 abbreviated new drug applications which includes 69 final approvals and 27 tentative approvals.
