Aurobindo gets US FDA nod for Cefprozil tabs

In a development that paves the way for Aurobindo Pharma to enter the USD 80 million market in the US for antibiotic Cefzil, the Indian drug maker today said it has received USFDA nod for its Cefprozil tablets.

MUMBAI: In a development that paves the way for Aurobindo Pharma to enter the USD 80 million market in the US for antibiotic Cefzil, the Indian drug maker today said it has received USFDA nod for its Cefprozil tablets.
The generic version of the brand 'Cefzil' is manufactured and sold by Bristol-Myers Squibb, Aurobindo informed the BSE.
Aurobindo Pharma has got the approval for Cefprozil tablets -- a second generation cephalosporin antibiotic -- in two strengths of 250 and 500 mg, it added.
Cefprozil is mostly used to treat upper, lower respiratory tract infections and skin infections.
Aurobindo already has a significant market share in this segment/product range in several markets across the world.
