Aurobindo bags US nod for Citalpram
The Hyderabad-based Aurobindo Pharma Ltd on Tuesday said its product Citalopram, used in the treatment of depressive disorders, has bagged the USFDA approval.
This approval opens an opportunity of over Rs 18.49 crore (four million dollar) market additionally to the company, Aurobindo Pharma informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The company already has approval of Citalopram tablets of 10, 20 and 40 mg strengths in tablet form, it added.
With this the company has 30 of its products approved by the USFDA, inclusive of tentative approvals.
Citalopram belongs to selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) class of medication and is a generic equivalent of Forest Laboratories' Celexa.
Shares of the company were trading at Rs 602.20, down 0.80 per cent at the BSE.
