Atul Sobti joins Ranbaxy as new COO
Global pharmaceutical major, Ranbaxy Labs on Monday announced the appointment of Atul Sobti as the Chief Operating Officer from January 1, 2007.
An alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Mr Sobti has a meritorious track record, with the experience of managing large business operations, with similar responsibilities.
Mr Sobti completed his graduation from St Stephens College, University of Delhi.
Announcing Atul's elevation as COO, Malvinder Mohan Singh, said, "With continued aggressive growth plans in 2007 and beyond, we need to ensure an integrated, cohesive and cost effective organization globally, with greater interaction and seamless interface amongst all facets of the value adding process from the lab to market. The COO's position will effectively bring about these improved efficiencies by integrating leadership and accountability for the global P&L. As COO, Atul will be focusing on these aspects and I wish him all success in his new role."
The position of the COO reinforces the company's aggressive game plan to accelerate growth and take advantage of the changing business dynamics that emphasises equally, aspects of product portfolio, quality, global footprint and cost efficiency, said a company press release.
This year, Gurgaon-based pharma company has made eight acquisitions in an effort to gain a greater foothold in the European and African markets.
