230 Indian pharma firms in CPhI Worldwide fair in Paris

Participation of Indian firms is expected to increase awareness about the domestic pharmaceutical industry amongst the global stakeholders.

NEW DELHI: As many as 230 Indian companies are participating in the three-day CPhI Worldwide fair of pharmaceutical sector in Paris.

The pharmaceutical trade exhibition was inaugurated by Commerce Secretary Rajeev Kher today.

"The Indian pharmaceutical industry stands with the full support of the government of India. For instance, our increasing participation at global exhibitions like CPhI Worldwide demonstrates the commitment to the sector," an official statement quoting Kher said.

CPhI Worldwide is the largest pharmaceutical trade exhibition in the world.

It also said that India's positioning of a responsible healthcare provider has found resonance amongst the meetings held during the Pre-Connect Congress and the first day of the exhibition.

Participation of Indian firms in the fair is expected to increase awareness about the domestic pharmaceutical industry amongst the global stakeholders, it added.

Indian pharmaceutical market size is about $ 22 billion. The country's pharma exports are about $ 10 billion annually.
