MEMG signs MoU with Malaysian Biotech Corp

To facilitate advanced stem cell research and development in Malaysia, Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysian Biotechnology corporation, a leading biotechnology agency in Malaysia.

BANGALORE: To facilitate advanced stem cell research and development in Malaysia, Manipal Education and Medical Group (MEMG) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Malaysian Biotechnology corporation, a leading biotechnology agency in Malaysia.
The MOU will result in Manipal Group setting up a subsidiary in Malaysia to focus on biotechnological advancements and showcase its expertise in stem cell research, a release said here on Tuesday.
"This partnership will allow Manipal Group and Malaysian Biotechnology Corporation to leverage on each other's expertise and strengths, enabling sharing of knowledge," according to Iskander Mizal Mahmood, CEO Biotech Corp, Malaysian Biotech Corporation.
The MoU was signed by Dr Ramdas Pai, Chairman, MEMG and Ahmad Zaharuddin Irdus from Biotech Corp, in the presence of Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Manipal Group subsidiary, Stemputics, has seven stem cell research groups and is currently undertaking clinical trials for treatment of damaged myocardium, treatment of spinal cord injury and Limb ischemia by autologous transplantation of bone marrow stem cells.
