HLL to foray into trauma care segment

NEW DELHI: State-run Hindustan Lifecare Ltd ( HLL) today said it is making a foray into trauma care segment with plans to manufacture a limb immobilisation device.

Kerala-based HLL will manufacture a device for limb immobiliser, which is considered crucial for treating a patient suffering fractures in a trauma case, it said in a statement.

"We earnestly believe that ' Relligo' (brand name) will go a long way in fulfilling the largely unmet clinical need of trauma care segment in hospitals and health care centres across the country," HLL CMD M Ayyappan said.

Relligo will provide a better way to temporarily immobilise injured lower limbs in trauma patients before they receive definitive care, Ayyappan added.

Set up in 1966, HLL is India's leading provider of a wide range of contraceptives, hospital and Ayurvedic products and a range of women's healthcare products.
