Rs 5.25 cr to modernise trauma, emergency ward at Government Rajaji Hospital

Jogi said the the cost of setting up the Trauma and emergency wards worked out to Rs 22 crore, of which the Centre had allocated Rs 5.25 crore.

MADURAI: The Health Ministry's Regional Director Nirmal Jogi today said the Centre had sanctioned Rs 5.25 crore for modernising the trauma and emergency special wards at the Government Rajaji Hospital here.


The amount had been sancionted in two instalments, he told reporters after inspecting the hospital.

Jogi said the the cost of setting up the Trauma and emergency wards worked out to Rs 22 crore, of which the Centre had allocated Rs 5.25 crore. Of this Rs 4.4 crore had been spent by the government and the balance remained, he said.

He said the super speciality ICU and emergency ward had a ultra modern CT-Scan and enough equipment to perform major surgeries.

Jogi said the hospital Dean Dr Mohan has been asked to look into partial utilisation of the ambulance on behalf of National Highways Authority to the hospital due to diesel and driver shortage.

The Joint director was told that the ambulance would function under direct supervision of the Dean.

Dr Mohan and higher officials were present.
