VIJAYAWADA: The government has raised its allocation for healthcare from two per cent to three per cent of GDP to fulfil its commitments under the Common Minimum Programme, Minister of State for Health Panabaka Lakshmi said on Saturday.
Participating as the chief guest in a national seminar on "Homeopathy and Research Trends" at Gudivada town in Krishna district, she said the government launched National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and allotted Rs 11,000 crores in this year's budget to provide better healthcare in rural areas.
The government has allotted Rs 564 crores for traditional healthcare systems, Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homeo (Ayush) and Rs eight crores was allocated this year to promote research in Homeopathy Medicine.
The Minister advised Homeopathy doctors to take the medicine to rural areas to provide better healthcare.
