Alisha Moopen is steering one of India's most ambitious expansion drives in the healthcare sector, as Aster DM Healthcare scales up capacity, strengthens clinical capabilities and extends its footprint across the country.

Under her leadership, as India deputy MD, the Bengaluru-based company has set a target to become India's largest healthcare chain, including a plan to add more than 3,300 beds in the next few years, taking its total capacity to about 14,000 beds. The group emerged as the second-largest healthcare chain following its merger with Blackstone-backed Quality Care India, and today operates about 40 hospitals across 27 cities, supported by nearly 50,000 healthcare professionals.

Asked how she blends the group's founding values with the modern world, she said, "In a world that is constantly being reshaped by technology and disruption, values must be lived and reinterpreted. As healthcare becomes more complex and technology-driven, building trust becomes even more critical." On the unique strength of family-owned businesses, Moopen said, "Family-led organisations invest with patience, whether in infrastructure, talent or community engagement."
