WBSEDCL to harness hydro power potential in Bengal
The West Bengal government would continue to prioritise harnessing hydro power projects in the ongoing and 13th plan period.
The state owned utility said out of total potential of 6300 MW, WBSEDCL had so far generated 1078.808 MW, the company said in a statement.
The utility which has distribution rights for electricty across the state except Kolkata and Howrah, said pump storage generation constituted 900 MW and the rest was in conventional hydro projects.
The company said the total potential in the state in hydro power potential including canal was 1500 MW and estimated pumped storage potential of 4800 MW.
WBSEDCL said it was carrying out detailed survey and investigation for DPR for the 450 MW in Teesta and Rammam in Darjeeling.
DPR for the Turga pump storage project (1000 MW) and Bandhu pumped storage project (900 MW) in Purulia district was being carried out.
