UP govt to lay foundation of two 500 MW power plant units
In a bid to make the state self reliant in terms of power, the Uttar Pradesh government will be soon laying the foundation of various public-private power projects.
The foundation laying ceremony of 500 MW unit of Harduaganj power plant and 500 MW unit in Pariccha is slated for the next month, Minister for Power and Gramin Samagra Vikas, Ramveer Upadhyaya said in Goverdhan town on Sunday.
"The letter of indent has been given to BHEL for completing infrastructure within three months in the Anpara D unit so that work for the construction of this unit may start after three months," he added.
Elaborating the cooperation of Private sector in power generation, he said, "While the work by Lampko Konda Company, in Anpara C, for the generation of 1000MW power, has started, formalities for the setting up power plants at Karchhana Meza and Bara are being completed. Land acquisition is under process for these projects."
Chief Minister Mayawati has also enhanced this year's Power budget from Rs 4.5 thousand crores to Rs 9.25 thousand crores, he added.
Upadhyaya said that the government is committed to check power thefts. "During the last six months 12000 FIRs have been registered and the drive against theft is on war footings," he said.
