Thermal power project sactioned for Solapur: Shinde

Union power ministry has sanctioned 1320 MW thermal power project for Solapur and the process of this proposed project will start within few days, said Union Power Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde.

SOLAPUR: Union power ministry has sanctioned 1320 MW thermal power project for Solapur and the process of this proposed project will start within few days, said Union Power Minister, Sushilkumar Shinde.

Shinde also announced that Union cabinet has also cleared the proposal of widening of Mumbai-Hyderabad Highway Number 9, and Mumbai-Bangluru Highway Number 13 into four lane.

This thermal power project will be located at Phatatewadi in South Solapur tehsil of the district.

Senior officers of National Thermal Power Corporation visited the proposed sight and decided to start the sight office at the earliest, said Shinde.

Two units of 650 MW per unit will cost around Rs 6500 crore, he added.

Replying to a question regarding the alleged shifting of Highway Number 9 via Latur, the minister said shifting of highways is a subject of Central government.

Shinde, who himslef hails from Solapur, said the welfare and development of the district will certainly be on his priorty list if he gets a powerful protfolio.
