Tata Power Mundra Plant signs supplementary PPAs with GUVNL, securing power supply for multiple states

Tata Power on Tuesday said its subsidiary, Coastal Gujarat Power Ltd (CGPL), which operates the 4,000 MW Mundra Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) in Kutch, Gujarat, has signed supplementary power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL).

"With reference to the temporary suspension of company operations of its units located at Mundra, we hereby inform you that the Company has executed Supplementary Power Purchase Agreement for Tata Power Mundra Plant with GUVNL (Gujarat)," the company stated in a regulatory filing.

It added that "the same shall also be executed with Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana." Operations at the Mundra plant had been temporarily suspended since July 2, 2025, causing financial losses for the company.

The coal-based plant, comprising five 800 MW units, provides electricity to Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
