Tata Power sees 50 MT coal imports by 2020

"By 2020 we are looking at importing 50 million tonnes of coal," Tata Power Managing Director Anil Sardana told reporters on the sidelines of Clean Coal Summit organised by CII here.

NEW DELHI: Tata Power today said it is looking at importing 50 million tonnes of coal by 2020.

"By 2020 we are looking at importing 50 million tonnes of coal," Tata Power Managing Director Anil Sardana told reporters on the sidelines of Clean Coal Summit organised by CII here.

Tata Power is looking at coal imports of 10 million tonnes in the current fiscal, he said.

"Till now we have imported seven million tonnes of coal in the current fiscal," Sardana said.

The company is also looking at acquiring coal mines in the US and Colombia, he added.

He further said that the company is looking to set up power plants in countries like Vietnam and Myanmar.
