Under this initiative, TPREL said it plans to install 200 megawatts of rooftop solar capacity across Punjab's commercial and industrial consumers segment over the next three years.
Under the 'sustainable edge' initiative, the innovative financing model enables businesses to adopt rooftop solar with zero upfront capital investment, allowing repayments through affordable monthly EMIs or lease rentals aligned with the estimated savings from solar power generation, the company said in a statement.

By linking repayments to projected energy output, the scheme helps businesses improve cash flow while transitioning towards clean energy.
Under the specially designed SunSmart Flexi EMI programme, customers benefit from collateral-free financing, competitive interest rates, flexible repayment tenures and a fully digital approval process, making clean energy adoption faster, simpler and more accessible for enterprises of all sizes, it said.
Punjab is home to thriving sectors such as textiles, bicycle manufacturing, engineering goods, auto components, foundries, food processing and agricultural equipment. As industries face rising electricity costs, increasing global sustainability expectations and the need for greater operational efficiency, renewable energy is emerging as a strategic business imperative.
Meanwhile, Tata Power Renewables also showcased its battery energy storage systems (BESS) portfolio under the Tata Power Battery Storage brand, featuring advanced storage solutions ranging from 5 kWh to 50 MWh for residential and commercial applications.

TPREL has already established a strong presence in Punjab with over 5,661 rooftop solar installations.
