Under the memorandum of understanding, Tata Power-DDL will supervise the shifting of electrical networks and grant permissions to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), ensuring that the work adheres to safety, reliability and statutory standards.
According to a statement, the corridor will have 21 stations, including six in Delhi and 15 in Haryana. It is planned as a rapid transport link for the National Capital Region, with trains designed to reach speeds of 180 kmph and an operational average speed of 160 kmph.
The proposed corridor will comprise 124.82 km of elevated track and 11.48 km of underground track. Trains are planned to operate at intervals of five to 10 minutes, with the journey between Delhi and Karnal estimated to take around 90 minutes, it added.
The MoU was signed by Kiran Gupta, chief of customer experience, commercial and corporate communications at Tata Power-DDL, and Vijay Kumar, company secretary at NCRTC, in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, it stated.
The project, recognised as an initiative of national importance, is being monitored through the Centre's Project Monitoring Group (PMG) portal, according to the statement.
The corridor has 38 extra-high-voltage (EHV) transmission lines at different voltage levels, including 765 kV, 400 kV, 132 kV and 66 kV, besides several 33 kV, 11 kV and 415 V lines. Transformers and other electrical equipment will also require adjustments or relocation to facilitate civil construction, it added.
Electrical infrastructure is managed by multiple agencies, including BSES, Tata Power-DDL, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Ltd (UHBVNL), Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Ltd (HVPNL), Power Grid, Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and JKTPL.
Gupta said the collaboration would support the timely execution of the corridor while maintaining reliable power supply to consumers.
Tata Power-DDL is a joint venture between Tata Power and the Delhi government, and distributes electricity in North Delhi, serving around nine million people.
