NEW DELHI: Tata Power Delhi Distribution ( TPDDL) has extended Special Lok Adalat by a month for its consumers to settle pending cases pertaining to theft of electricity.

"TPDDL in a discussion with Government of Delhi and DERC has decided to extend Lok Adalat for another 30 days after an overwhelming response from consumers. The Adalat will now listen to the cases till August 17, 2015," the company said in a statement today.

The company has joined hands with MLAs of the respective areas for information dissemination and encourage consumers to participate in Lok Adalat for settlement of their theft dues.

"Keeping in mind the huge response by consumers due to the special rebate scheme on electricity dues, we have decided to extend Lok Adalat for another 30 days.

"We will continue this scheme for another one month and urge consumers to make the most of this opportunity for settlement of their pending cases," said TPDDL CEO and MD Praveer Sinha. Out of 3,000 consumers who were given notices, nearly 1,000 turned up for Lok Adalat, it said.

The judges of settlement courts offered settlement with rebate up to 60 per cent and 66 per cent for those who paid the amount upfront, it added.
