Suzlon gets order for 80 turbines in China

Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy on Tuesday said it has formed a joint venture with China’s Inner Mongolia North Longyuan Wind Power Corporation to supply turbines for a 100 megawatt.

MUMBAI: Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy on Tuesday said it has formed a joint venture with China���s Inner Mongolia North Longyuan Wind Power Corporation to supply turbines for a 100 megawatt, World Bank-aided wind power project in China.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Suzlon said the joint venture was signed by it���s China unit, Suzlon Energy Tianjin and would include delivery of 80 units of Suzlon���s 1.25 megawatt turbines, in two lots of 50 megawatts each in fiscal years 2010 and 2011.

The Tulsi Tanti-controlled Suzlon is the world���s fifth largest wind turbine maker and has about 10.5% of global market share in the wind turbine market.

"North Longyuan is a joint venture between North Union Power and Longyuan, a leading wind project developer in China. It is one of the largest power developers in China, with Huaneng as a leading shareholder with 51% equity," said Paulo Soares, CEO of Suzlon Energy Tianjin."

Shares of Suzlon Energy were up 2.2% at Rs 39.35 in intra day trade on the BSE on Tuesday.
