Suzlon crosses 1 GW capacity at Jaisalmer park

MUMBAI: Wind turbine maker Suzlon on Friday said its wind park at Jaisalmer in Rajasthan has crossed 1,000 MW of installed capacity in the year gone-by. The capacity reached 1,064 MW on April 1, making it the largest wind park in the country, the company said in a statement.

"We are proud to be playing such a vital role in powering Rajasthan. Completing 1 GW of installed capacity is a great achievement for us as a company and for wind energy in the country. We credit this to the support from the state government, our customers and the local communities," Suzlon Group chairman Tulsi Tanti said.

The development of the wind park was initiated in August 2001 and comprises Suzlon's entire wind portfolio, ranging from the earliest 350 kw model to the latest S9X -- 2.1 MW series, the release said. "The first S9X wind turbine in the country was commissioned at the Tejuva site in Baramsar, Jaisalmer," he said.

The park comprises a cluster of wind farms within the Jaisalmer district including Amarsagar, Badabaug, Baramsar, Tejuva and Soda Mada among others.
