SunEdison commissions 1 MW canal top solar project in Karnataka

KOLKATA: Solar company SunEdison Inc on Tuesday commissioned a 1MW DC canal top solar power plant built for Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Ltd (KBJNL), a Karnataka government agency.

“SunEdison has successfully installed and commissioned this canal top system on the banks of the Krishna River for the Karnataka government. SunEdison has also installed a similar technology for the Narmada Canal Top Project in Gujarat in 2012,” Pashupathy Gopalan, president of SunEdison Asia-Pacific, said.

Canal top solar systems are built over water canals.

SunEdison, which is one of the largest renewable energy companies in the world, develops, finances, installs, owns and operates renewable power plants, delivering predictably priced electricity to its residential, commercial, government and utility customers.

The company provides customers with asset management, operations and maintenance, monitoring and reporting services.
