Socomec set to expand three-phase UPS market

Socomec-Numeric UPS Private Ltd, a joint venture between city-based Numeric Power Systems Ltd and French company Socomec SA, is set to expand the three phase UPS market in India.

CHENNAI: Socomec-Numeric UPS Private Ltd, a joint venture between city-based Numeric Power Systems Ltd and French company Socomec SA, is set to expand the three phase UPS market in India with the launch of products with 'flywheel' technology.

With the lead price cost continuing to penalise the battery market, the flywheel technology would help industries install the Socomec brand UPS without batteries, company Managing Director Norbert Jacobsen told reporters here.

He said the flywheel technology had the advantages of low installation and maintenance cost, high life expectancy, reliability and rapid recharge against batteries.

In the last one year, the company had sold and installed more than 1,000 three-phase UPS ranging from 80 KVA to 800 KVA by covering major IT, telecommunications, data processing centres, health care, banking, service and manufacturing industries.

Jacobsen expressed hope that the JV, formed in 2006 with 50:50 share, would enjoy a 25 per cent share in the estimated USD 100 million three phase market in the country.

The target turnover for the current calendar year was 12 million Euro, he added.
