Siemens inks pact worth Rs 147 crore with Power Grid Corp

Siemens said it has signed a Rs 147 crore contract with state-run Power Grid Corp for executing a project at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.

NEW DELHI: Siemens today said it has signed a Rs 147 crore contract with state-run Power Grid Corp for executing a project at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.

"Siemens announced that it has signed a contract worth Rs 147 crore with Power Grid Corporation to build a test laboratory at Bina in Madhya Pradesh," a company release said.

Siemens has bagged this order on turnkey basis and will be executing the project as an end-to-end solution provider, it said.

The company has been contracted for the annual maintenance of this test laboratory for five years, it added.

The project has been rolled out with immediate effect and is expected to be commissioned in 14 months or by mid 2013.

"The project is significant for it will provide access to world-class testing facilities locally and will put India on the world stage as an important destination for testing transformers," A K Dixit, CEO, Energy Sector, Siemens Ltd said in the statement.

This project comes under the National High Power Test Laboratory, which is a joint venture company formed by NTPC, NHPC, Power Grid, Damodar Valley Corp and CPRI (Central Power Research Institute).
