SC seeks Centre's reply on Delhi power project

The Supreme Court on Friday sought a reply from the Centre as to why it had failed to grant approval to a 1,000-MW power plant of the Tata group in Delhi.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday sought a reply from the Centre as to why it had failed to grant approval to a 1,000-MW power plant of the Tata group in Delhi.
A bench of Justice P K Balasubramanium and Justice D K Jain granted two weeks to the Union Government to file its response.
However, this was opposed by Additional Solicitor General Amarender Saran who argued the apex court cannot interfere in such matters as it was purely in the executive domain.
