SC admits REL's plea on sea-link

The Supreme Court on Wednesday admitted a petition from Reliance Energy (REL) challenging its disqualification from the Rs 2,600-crore sea-link expressway project connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday admitted a petition from Reliance Energy (REL) challenging its disqualification from the Rs 2,600-crore sea-link expressway project connecting Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

A bench headed by Justice Arijit Pasayat admitted the petition.

A consortium led by REL had challenged the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation’s decision to disqualify it from participating in the bidding process, as its consortium partner Hyundai Engineering and Construction did not meet the Rs 200-crore net worth norm.

Sea King Infrastructure, taken over by Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, is considered the front-runner for the project.
