R-Power commissions 2nd Rosa unit

NEW DELHI: Reliance Power has started generating power from the second unit of Rosa thermal power project. With the formal commissioning of the second unit of 300 mw, the first phase (600 mw) of the Rosa project is completed, Reliance Power CEO JP Chalasani said.

After completion of its second phase by March 2012, the generation capacity of Rosa project will be 1,200 mw. After the commissioning of Rosa Phase-I, Reliance Power’s total generation capacity has increased to 1,000 mw. The Rs 6,000-crore Rosa project is divided into two phases of 600 mw each. The first 300 mw unit of the project had commenced operations in December 2009.

“Rosa project would be the largest private sector investment in UP. It will add around 20% to the existing generating capacity of the state and will greatly contribute to the reducing power deficit,” Mr Chalasani said.a
