PATIALA: Punjab has sought coal linkages from the Centre for its upcoming thermal plants.

A delegation comprising Punjab Chief Secretary Rakesh Singh, Secretary Power Anirudh Tiwari and Punjab State Power Corporation CMD K D Chaudhry met Coal Secretary Alok Perti on Tuesday in this regard.

The delegation took up the issue of coal linkage of 1980 MW at Talwandi Sabo and 1320 MW thermal plant at Rajpura.

Chaudhry said: "our priority is to fully commission both the plants before 2014."

Notably, because of the shortage of domestic coal in the country, the CIL wanted some amendments pertaining to the quantum of the domestic coal supply before signing of the Fuel Supply Agreement ( FSA) with the power companies.
