Powergrid to come up with optical fibre ground wire network for Northeast India. NERPC has decided to move Ministry of DONER for funding this project.

GUWAHATI: In a big move Powergrid will come up with optical fibre ground wire ( OPGW) for Northeast India.

North East Regional Power Committee (NERPC) has decided to move Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region ( DONER) for funding this project.

Final requirement of OPGW as 1901 kms at an initial cost of Rs Rs 56.36 Crore is already finalized. Sources said, "Northeastern states could not arrange the fund from its own resources. Therefore NERPC has resolved to approach Doner ministry."
