Power transmission projects, revival of ailing discoms on cards, says Piyush Goyal

It will offer Rs 1 lakh crore of power transmission projects in next 6-8 months and has also initiated dialogues with states to revive ailing state electricity discoms.

KOLKATA: The government plans large projects in the power sector and will offer equal opportunities to all, ending “cosy” relationships and largesse from the government, which a section of the business community enjoyed in the past, Power Minister Piyush Goyal said in an interview.

It will offer Rs 1 lakh crore of power transmission projects in next 6-8 months and has also initiated dialogues with states to revive ailing state electricity discoms. The minister further said that adding long-term transmission capacity and designing customised and innovative financial model for state distribution companies will be the government’s focus areas in its second year of operations.
