Power Ministry to review Sasan UMPP, other projects tomorrow: Sushilkumar Shinde

NEW DELHI: The Power Ministry will conduct a review on the progress of the Sasan ultra-mega power plant and other major projects tomorrow in the run-up to an Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) meet on UMPPs on December 5, Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said today.

"We are reviewing the Sasan UMPP and other such projects in an internal meeting tomorrow," Shinde told PTI at the LED Expo 2011 here today.

"We will see what needs to be done on these projects (UMPPs)," he added.

On being asked whether the Power Ministry is going to reverse the decision to allow power companies to utilise excess coal from UMPPs for other projects, he said, "I have seen the reports (which state the decision may be taken back)... they are not true."
