Power dept to conduct survey on power shortage areas

In an effort to revamp the state's power infrastructure, an assembly panel on Thursday directed the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department to carry out a survey identifying the areas facing problems.

SRINAGAR: In an effort to revamp the state's power infrastructure, an assembly panel on Thursday directed the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department to carry out a survey identifying the areas facing problems.

Such a survey would help the government to take urgent measures for replacement of damaged equipments like poles, electric lines, transformers etc, the Committee led by Abdul Gani Vakil, Congress member of the House, said.

The Committee also asked PDD engineers to complete all ongoing power projects, including the Baghlir Hydle Project, within a stipulated time frame. Basharat Ahmed Dar, PDD commissioner-secretary, submitted a comprehensive statement regarding status of works under the Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme and business plan of state Power Development Corporation Ltd.
