NEW DELHI: Despite a dip in the temperature, the power demand in the capital was recorded at its second highest ever of 3,913 MW on Tuesday as the Delhi Government managed to get an additional 50 MW of electricity from the Damodar Valley Corporation to meet the rise in demand.
Parts of the city went without electricity for long durations as distcom BRPL resorted to two MW of loadshedding due to overloading of the 20 MVA transformer at Okhla phase II, an official spokesperson said.
Two units of the Rajghat Power House (RPH) were also shut due to maintenance work at the circulating water pump, but was expected to be functional by midnight today.
Rotational loadshedding was also resorted to maintain grid discipline, the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile, to cope up with the increased demand, authorities have roped in the Damodar Valley Corporation to supply 50 MW of power on a round the closk basis.
However, there were no power cuts due to under-frequency on Tuesday.
"With the advancement of monsoons in the western region, frequency if likely to remain stable in the grid comprising of eastern, western, northern and north-eastern regions," he said.
