Piyush Goyal meets state power utilities officials as Tata Power, Adani cut supplies

Last week, Tata Power and Adani Power simultaneously announced shutdown of some of their units citing technical snags.

NEW DELHI: Power minister Piyush Goyal met ministers and top officials of five state power utilities that procures electricity from Mundra based ultra-mega projects of Tata Power and Adani Power on Tuesday to find a way to resolve their standoff with the power producers.

Last week, Tata Power and Adani Power simultaneously announced shutdown of some of their units citing technical snags and default in payment by some utilities. Goyal held a two-and-half hour meeting with ministers and officials of Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra and Gujarat in New Delhi.

Participants declined to comment on the issues discussed.
