MUMBAI: Power Finance Corporation has empanelled four private firms Reliance Infrastructure, NDPL, Tata Consulting Engineers, Kalki Communication Technologies, for providing consultancy service to the state power distribution utilities, according to a person close to the development.

These companies have been empanelled as SCADA/DMS (supervisory control and data acquisition and distribution management system) consultants for the distribution utilities for the services under the governments over Rs 50,000 crore R-APDRP programme to enhance electricity distribution efficiency and loss reduction.

Earlier, PFC, as the nodal agency for restructured accelerated power development and reform programme (R-APDRP), empanelled IT implementation agencies for implementing the IT-related schemes in the utilities across the country.

SCADA/DMS helps utilities to monitor and control the electrical network and co-ordinate the maintenance and fault rectification activities of the electrical distribution system. The process of selection was initiated by PFC in August this year. Further, state utilities are expected to float the request for proposal for SCADA/DMS consultancy and only the empanelled companies can participate in it, said a R-Infra spokesperson.
