OBC inks pact with BVT

Oriental Bank of Commerce on Thursday signed an agreement with Bhartiya Vikas Trust (BVT) for training branch managers in financing solar energy projects.

NEW DELHI: Oriental Bank of Commerce on Thursday signed an agreement with Bhartiya Vikas Trust (BVT) for training branch managers in financing solar energy projects, conducting Entrepreneurship Development Programme and spreading awareness about solar energy.
The bank has collaborated with Bhartiya Vikas Trust (BVT) under a specific project called Solar Energy Promotion and Development Programme (SPDP), the bank said in a release.
The SPDP has been designed to encourage large scale usage of solar energy in rural areas to make villages energy independent as far as possible, it said.
Sample Solar installations would be provided free of cost to selected villagers. Both have also agreed to set up a Solar Innovation and Promotion Centre in Rajasthan, it added.
In view of the immense potential for domestic and commercial lighting and heating, the bank said it has launched a new loan product called Oriental Saur Urja Dohan Scheme. The scheme aims at financing Solar Lighting and Water Heating systems/equipments.
