MUMBAI: National Thermal Power Corporation and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam have formed a 50:50 joint venture, Meja Urja Nigam, for setting up a power plant of 1320 MW (2X660 MW) at Meja Tehsil or at any other suitable site at Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.

Recently NTPC and National Geo-physical Research Institute, Hyderabad signed an MoU for co-operating and sharing their knowledge to identify potential sites for setting up Geo-thermal based power projects in India as an alternate source of energy.

On Wednesday, NTPC shares closed down 0.69 per cent at Rs 194.05 on BSE.
