NTPC targets 40 MT coal production

NTPC targets 40M tonnes coal production in FY25, a 17% increase. In-house mining to cover 15% of fuel needs. Strategies like mine planning, automation, and training contribute to higher production levels.

State-owned NTPC Ltd has set a target of 40 million tonnes coal production from its captive mines for the ongoing financial year, up 17% from FY24.

With the in-house coal mining, over 15% of fuel requirement of the company's plants will be met in FY25, the power generator said in a statement. The company's coal despatch in FY24 was 34.15 million tonnes while production was at 34.38 million tonnes. NTPC implemented a range of strategies and technologies to increase production of coal. Improved mine planning, equipment automation, workforce training, and the implementation of continuous monitoring and analysis systems, were some of the measures that led to higher production, the company said.
