NTPC takes over 2,320 mw in Rajasthan from state enteties

NTPC will take over Chhabra Thermal Power Plant and Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam in Rajasthan from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam.

KOLKATA: NTPC will take over Chhabra Thermal Power Plant (1,000 mw) and Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (1,320 mw) in Rajasthan from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUN) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam (RUVNL), respectively.

To this effect the three entities signed memorandum of understanding for the takeover.

In July last year ET reported that NTPC is in discussions with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam to take over its entire generation capacities through joint ventures. The Rajasthan utility runs plants with a total capacity of about 5,000 mw. It is also in the process of setting up 900 mw power capacities, but the projects are delayed by several years.

The organisations shall execute binding agreements based on the detailed due diligence being underway. Best practices of NTPC in efficiency and systems will benefit and improve performance of Chhabra Project, benefiting the consumers of the state.
