NTPC starts supplying 113 MW power to Madhya Pradesh from Chhattisgarh

BHOPAL: Power major National Thermal Power Corporation ( NTPC) today started supplying 113 MW power to Madhya Pradesh from its Sipat facility in Chhattisgarh.

The power is being supplied to Madhya Pradesh from the NTPC Sipat's Powerhouse-1's (660 MW) Unit-3, an official release quoting MP Power Management Company Limited's Managing Director, Manu Shrivastava said.

This will enable the power managers from now itself to plan supply of power during Rabi season, it said.

The NTPC will supply this (113 MW) power to the state for the next 25 years from its Sipat facility and its tariff would be fixed by the Central Electricity Regulatory Authority.

Meanwhile, the State Energy Minister Rajendra Shukla praised the officials and employees of the State Load Despatch Centre for preventing the western grid from collapsing yesterday due to high frequency.

As the frequency was about to cross the ideal 49.5 to 50.2 Hz in view of the sudden collapse of other grids, which plunged nearly 20 states into darkness, the officials here immediately shut down some of the hydel power generating stations to prevent the western grid from collapsing, department sources said.

At present, Madhya Pradesh is generating 575 MW from its own hydro-power projects and 1,305 MW from the joint-venture projects.
