NTPC, CLP, Torrent owned under-utilised gas-based power plants bidding for gas

NTPC's four plants – Kawas, Gandhar, Dadri and Auraiya and Torrent Power's 1,147 MW Sugen plant is also participating in the auction.

NEW DELHI: Eight under-utilised gas-based power plants owned by NTPC, CLP India, Torrent Power and Gujarat State Electricity Corp, with a combined capacity of 4,872 megawatts, have qualified to bid for the supply of imported gas under the government's new auction programme.

NTPC's four plants – Kawas, Gandhar, Dadri and Auraiya - with 2,807 MW are bidding for the gas supply, while Torrent Power's 1,147 MW Sugen plant is also participating in the auction that began on Wednesday.

CLP India's 655 MW Peguthan plant and Gujarat State Electricity Corp's 156.1 MW Hazira plant and 106.42 MW Dhuvaran project are also among the technically qualified bidders for supply of 1.1 million metric standard cubic meter per day of imported gas.
