NTPC-Bhel JV clocks Rs 115-cr turnover in debut year

NEW DELHI: NTPC-Bhel Power Projects, a joint venture between the two public sector enterprises, recorded a turnover of Rs 115 crore in 2010-11. Profit before tax in the year, the first year of the company’s operation, stood at Rs 10 crore.

The company targeted a turnover of Rs 90 crore and profit before tax of Rs 4 crore during the fiscal, an official statement said. NTPC-Bhel Power Projects was set up in 2008 to supply ancillary equipment and carry out engineering, procurement and construction contracts for power projects in India.

The company is setting up a power equipment manufacturing facility in Chittoor district in Andhra Pradesh that is expected to commence production by 2012-13. It is executing civil works contract for the 726-MW, gas-based power project of ONGC-Tripura Power Company and the 100-MW Namrup Combined Cycle Power Plant of Assam Power.

The company is expecting orders for its 500-MW Unchahar project from NTPC and a 100-MW, gas-based combined cycle power project from NEEPCO, the statement said.
