NHPC to add 700 MW capacity this fiscal

State-run National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) on Wednesday said that it would commission 700 megawatt project during the fiscal 2010-11.

NEW DELHI: State-run National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) on Wednesday said that it would commission 700 megawatt project during the fiscal 2010-11.

"We would add 700 mw capacity during the current financial year, over and above the 120-mw project in Jammu and Kashmir that would be commissioned this month," NHPC CMD S K Garg told reporters on the sidelines of India Energy Congress.

The power company has set a target of adding 5,322 mw by the end of the current Five Year Plan, out of which it has already commissioned 1,030 mw.

NHPC has earmarked a capital expenditure of Rs 4,600 crore for the current financial year. "Our capex for 2010-11 is Rs 4,600 crore. Last fiscal, it was about Rs 3,800 crore," Garg said.
