NEEPCO to implement Narengre thermal project

The 500 mw Narengre thermal project in Meghalaya will be implemented by North Eastern Electric Power Corp Ltd.

KOLKATA: The 500 mw Narengre thermal project in Meghalaya will be implemented by North Eastern Electric Power Corp Ltd (Neepco). The decision was taken by the state cabinet recently. The project which was initiated in 2007 was held in abeyance after it generated much political heat.

Sources in the state government added, We will execute a new memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Neepco. State circles said coal from the neighbouring mines of South and East Garo Hills would be used for the project.
