NEAA rejects appeal against Reliance Power's plea

The National Environment Appellate Authority has dismissed an appeal against the implementation of Reliance Power Ltd’s (RPL) 4000-MW power project at Shahapur in Maharastra.


NEW DELHI: The National Environment Appellate Authority has dismissed an appeal against the implementation of Reliance Power Ltd���s (RPL) 4000-MW power project at Shahapur in Maharastra. The order has paved the way for execution of the power plant, a RPL spokesperson said.

Shetkari Sangharsh Samiti, a representative organisation of local farmers, had filed an appeal against the government���s decision to give environmental and Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearances to Maharashtra Energy Generation Ltd (MEGL), a special purpose vehicle of Reliance Power to execute its Shahapur project.
