MSPL to invest Rs 1,100 cr in wind energy

Wind energy producer MSPL Ltd on Thursday said it plans to double its capacity to 400 MW by 2010 from the existing 191.6 MW with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore.

BANGALORE: Wind energy producer MSPL Ltd on Thursday said it plans to double its capacity to 400 MW by 2010 from the existing 191.6 MW with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore.

"This augmentation in capacity is in tune with India's rapid march towards energy independence," its Chairman and Managing Director Narendra Kumar said in a statement.

MSPL, which is a part of Baldota Group of companies, is the largest producer of wind energy in the country and has already invested Rs 924 crore in wind energy projects.

The company had registered with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), a clean development mechanism (CDM) project. Besides, the group had also registered 125 MW in Karnataka with UNFCCC.
