Monarchak power plant to start generation by Jan 2013
Gas-based 100 MG watt Monarchak power plant in West Tripura district would start generation by January 2013.
Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of North East Electrical Power Corporation ( NEEPCO), Prem Chand Pankaj, told reporters on Wednesday that in the first phase 60 MW would be generated by 2013 and later another 40 MW would be generated.
Pankaj who assumed office as head of the regional power generation body, NEEPCO recently met chief minister Manik Sarkar and power minister Manik Dey at Civil Secretariat in Agartala.
He said that the turbine for the first phase would be transported through Assam-Agartala National Highway (NH-44).
Sources said the CM has asked the NEEPCO authority to commission the Monarchak project at the earliest because it was already delayed.
Sarkar also assured all possible help to the NEEPCO if they require implementing the project on schedule.
