Maharashtra asks Tata power to supply power to Mumbai

Maharashtra government today asked Tata Power to supply electricity to Mumbai.

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government today asked Tata Power to supply electricity to Mumbai, in the backdrop of the company's recent statement that it would not be in a position to do so.

"We have written to Tata Power today, asking them to ensure that consumers in Mumbai and suburbs are not deprived of power," Energy Secretary Subrat Ratho told PTI tonight.

Recently, the state government had asked Tata Power to supply power to Reliance Energy at specified rate, to which Tata Power informed yesterday that it was not in a position to do so, Ratho said.

"Today, we have written to Tata Power, reminding the company that interests of consumers in Mumbai and suburbs need to be protected at all costs to ensure that there is no load-shedding," Ratho said.
