Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd dedicates 2-MW solar power plant to nation

SAMBALPUR (ODISHA): Mahanadi Coalfields Ltd (MCL) today dedicated to the nation its first Solar Power Plant of 2MW capacity set up at a cost of Rs 13.54 crore at its headquarters complex here in Odisha.

The project was formally commissioned by S K Srivastava, secretary the in Ministry of Coal, in the presence of A N Sahay, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of MCL.

The solar power project has been set up over eight acres of barren land in the Anand Vihar complex of MCL Headquarters.

This plant is expected to reduce electricity bills of the company by Rs 1.11 crore per year, a company release said.

Power generated by the MCL solar plant would feed the existing 11 KV grid of Odisha's power distribution company WESCO, it added.
